An 18-year-old from Florida has been arrested after deputies caught him waterboarding a cat and tossing it off a balcony.
“Were about to walk a sorry individual into our jail for animal cruelty,” declared Sheriff Wayne Ivey of the Brevard County Sheriffs Office on Wednesday.
Kieran McKinney, 18, was slammed by the Sheriff who said the teen “likes to beat up cats,” following allegations that he had tortured the feline.
On Oct. 18, Palm Bay police were called to a domestic disturbance involving McKinney. During the call, they uncovered the animal abuse and contacted the sheriff’s office for further investigation.

Sheriff Ivey detailed multiple instances of abuse as acts of revenge, including McKinney hurling the cat onto a couch and off a third-floor balcony, resulting in a broken leg. Disturbing footage shows McKinney waterboarding the cat with a hose while it was trapped in its carrier, reports WFLA.
The Sheriff expressed disgust at the torture inflicted on the cat for having an accident, noting that McKinney also withheld food and water from the pet due to its ‘behavior.’ “Go sit in the corner and think about what youve done,” Sheriff Ivey scolded. “Because thats what your little punk self deserves.”
After the Sheriff concluded his statements, he and other deputies apprehended McKinney and escorted him out of their patrol car to the jail. Once behind bars, the Sheriff declared, “Thats the sound of justice.”
Charged with animal confinement without sufficient provisions and three counts of aggravated animal cruelty, McKinney currently resides in Brevard County Jail with bail set at $80,000.
The news comes weeks after a heartless dog owner who tied his pet to a fence in floodwaters while he fled Hurricane Milton claims he “couldn’t find anyone” to pick up the terrified terrier.
Giovanny Aldama Garcia was charged with aggravated animal cruelty, a third-degree felony after he was arrested on Monday. Garcia admitted he dumped the white bull terrier on Interstate 75 as he fled Florida and headed towards Georgia.
The 23-year-old told cops he abandoned his dog, Jumbo, because he “couldn’t find anyone to pick the dog up,” according to Hillsborough County State Attorney Suzy Lopez, who criticized his actions.
In Hillsborough County, we take animal cruelty very seriously. This defendant is charged with a felony and could face up to five years in prison for his actions, Lopez said. Quite frankly, I dont think that is enough. Hopefully, lawmakers take a look at this case and discuss changing the law to allow for harsher penalties for people who abandon their animals during a state of emergency.
