The federal investigation into Sean “Diddy” Combs has escalated, as several of his alleged victims are expected to appear before a federal grand jury. This development signals the possibility of criminal charges against the music mogul, who has faced multiple civil lawsuits accusing him of sexual abuse, trafficking, and rape since November.
Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) has been leading the inquiry, gathering evidence and preparing potential witnesses. While no official confirmation has been made regarding the grand jury, sources have indicated that investigators are working to ensure any potential indictment is robust and well-supported. Grand juries are typically used to subpoena documents and witnesses and to determine if criminal charges should be brought against a suspect.
Combs’ legal troubles began with a civil lawsuit filed by his ex-partner, Cassie Ventura, under New York’s Adult Survivors Act. Cassie accused him of a decade-long pattern of abuse, trafficking, and rape. Surveillance footage from 2016, which corroborates parts of her claims, shows Combs physically attacking Cassie in a Los Angeles hotel. Combs later issued an apology, describing his behavior as “inexcusable,” but settled the lawsuit for an undisclosed amount shortly after it was filed.
In addition to Cassie’s case, Combs has been named in other lawsuits, including allegations from record producer Lil Rod and former fashion student April Lampros. These lawsuits involve claims of drugging, sexual assault, and forced participation in sexual acts. The growing number of accusations prompted federal agents to raid Combs’ homes in Miami and Los Angeles earlier this year as part of a broader investigation that now includes sex trafficking, money laundering, and illegal drug use.
Federal agents reportedly possess video evidence from Combs’ residences, and they are in the process of contacting individuals identified in the footage. The investigation continues to unfold, with more potential witnesses expected to be called as the legal case against Combs intensifies. He has repeatedly denied all allegations, calling them baseless attempts to extort money from him.
