Earnestly reflecting on her trajectory from a hopeful amateur to an internationally acclaimed Oscar-winning actor, she admitted that her decision to join the film fraternity might have been influenced by the then-more private nature of the industry. “If I was to decide today,” she said, “I might not have chosen the path of becoming an actress. During the time I was trying to find my footing in the industry, it wasn’t commonplace to live life under a constant microscope, always expected to share exhaustive details about oneself.
After enjoying and enduring over twenty years under an intense spotlight, it appears that the constant public scrutiny has exacted a substantial toll on the actress, tagging her as a preferred target for tabloid rumors and gossips, a phenomenon that amplified exponentially following her much-publicized divorce from Hollywood megastar, Brad Pitt around seven years ago.
Her experiences during the filming of the Disney sequel, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil in 2018 become a perfect example of the stressful effects of her life in the limelight. Stress was so incessant and intense that she became aware of physical changes due to the psychological load. Stating that her body reacts sensitively to stress, there were instances where her blood sugar oscillated unpredictably and she was diagnosed with Bells Palsy six months before her divorce.
