Only a few kilometers from the Tshokwane picnic area, Florida author Dana Atkinson, who has visited thirteen African nations, captured on camera an amazing sighting in the Kruger National Park.
Dana said that she soon spotted seven lions on the opposite bank of the river. Many people came, took pictures, and then departed because all they were doing was napping and lazing around. She stayed because she could see through her binoculars that the lioness in the front was intently scanning the riverbed left and right, and she knew that if she spotted anything, she would start a ʜᴜɴᴛ.
She remained there for more than an hour till there was only one other car left and she. The lion in the lead was what held her there as she observed the pride via the binoculars. The other cats were all flat and dozing off, but not this one. She kept a sharp eye on the riverbank.
She would take a long, hard look down the riverbed before turning around. She was on the prowl and that if anything strayed past, there would be retaliation. The lioness perked up and started staring towards Dana’s side of the bank after about an hour, when there was only her and one other car there. Suddenly the warthog appeared. The lions started to chase and luckily the warthog made a successful escape.
