A lioness tried to kill a hippopotamus in a riverbed in the Lion Sands area of Kruger National Park. It jumped on the hippo’s back, using its fangs to pin its claws into the hippo’s thick skin to knock down its prey.
No matter how hard the lioness tried, she couldn’t knock the big hippo down. It is known that after hours of stubbornly clinging to the hippo, the exhausted lion gave up. The hippo is set free, and the lion must now use the last of his strength to run away from the hippo.
Despite possessing a clumsy, slow appearance, the hippopotamus is the most aggressive animal in the wild in Africa. They have almost no enemies in the wild because none of them is large and strong enough to challenge them.
However, in some cases, lone, young, old, or injured hippos will become the target of lion attacks.
