Delancey is a sweet kitty who lived on the streets for many years until she was given a second chance by kind folks. She was observed hunting for food in the rubbish in an industrial part of Newark, New Jersey.

Delancey, who was also expecting, was approached by Jenna, a local animal rescuer.

“North Shore Animal League America’s Karla Agostinello reached me to ask if I knew of anyone doing TNR in Newark… So I offered to help with the project as a volunteer.

This woman and her rescuers have worked tirelessly to have unwanted cats spayed or neutered and placed in foster homes.

Delancey was missing for a long, and when they found her again, she had given birth to their children.

The rescuers went to a local mechanical workshop to see if they knew anything about them, and Delancey was there with her three-day-old twins. This kitty was fiercely protective of them, shielding them with her body.

Jenna stated,

“A familiar man from the repair shop apprehended her and lovingly gave over each of her kittens.”

The entire feline family was taken to Save the Animals Rescue Team (START), a Little Falls, NJ-based rescue organization.

Delancey realized she would no longer have to worry about getting food on the streets when a volunteer agreed to take them home so they could be more comfortable.

Jenna stated,

“Throughout the nursing phase, she was highly devoted to her kittens and constantly had one or two in her arms.”

Delancey tested positive for FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus) as the kittens grew older, but none of her infants were harmed.

Jenna stated,

“FIV is only spread through severe bite wounds, not through everyday activities including as sharing food, drink, and litter boxes,” says the CDC.
