Jaw-Dropping Find: Enormous 33-Foot Anaconda Unearthed in Brazilian Cave Near Construction Site

October 30, 2023 by Pham Hien

On a Bʀᴀᴢɪʟian construction site, sʜᴏᴄᴋed workers found a 33-foot-long anaconda. The workmen discovered the gigantic reptile during a controlled explosion in the Cave of Altamira in the northern state of Para. A video taken by one of the team members shows the snake’s enormous body, which has a one-meter diameter. It is 400 kg heavy!

The moment the staff members realized what they had found, they hooked the animal to a crane and later raised it to reveal its yellow-spotted underbelly. Many people speculated that the animal may have been ᴋɪʟʟed in the explosion or by falling debris because its head was flat.

Anacondas are semi-aquatic snakes like pythons but are native to tropical South America, especially the Amazon. They are among the largest snakes in the world and are well known for their swimming abilities.

Anacondas are a stocky, muscular snake that are thicker than other boas, according to Reptiles Cove. They have broad necks and big, enormous heads. Anacondas can view above the water even though they spend most of their time submerged because their eyes and nose are situated on top of their skulls. There is a thick black line separating their mouth from their eyes.

The longest snake maintained in captivity as of right now is the snake Medusa, which measures 25 feet 2 inches long and is kept in Kansas City.
