Corey Simms Sets Ground Rules for Daughters at First High School Dance
o-parenting duo Corey Simms and Leah Messer are making sure their twin daughters, Aliannah and Aleeah, 15, understand the rules as they prepare for their first high school dance.
In the Teen Mom: The Next Chapter episode airing on February 27, Corey, father of three, picks up his twin daughters from school and lays down some humorous but firm expectations for their upcoming homecoming dance.
“So for the dance, you know the basic dad rules—be good, don’t do anything you shouldn’t do, and don’t let anyone pressure you into something you know isn’t right,” Corey advises.
With a smirk, he continues, “Hands above the waist, stand at least half a foot apart. No twerking. No grinding.”
Laughing, Aleeah teases, “Hey, I’m gonna twerk.”
Corey quickly shuts it down. “No, we’re not. This isn’t a club. This is a high school dance,” before jokingly adding, “Hi Ali, I’m talking to you mostly.”
Leah Reflects on Her Own Teenage Experience
Meanwhile, at home, Leah reminisces about her own teenage years and acknowledges the significance of this milestone for her daughters.
“It’s homecoming week for the twins. The first dance I ever went to was my junior prom. I had just started dating Corey, and I’m like 99% sure that’s when the twins were conceived,” Leah shares. “It is 100% my goal to make sure Ali and Aleeah do not have the same experience I did.”
Apart from the twins, Leah is also mother to Adalynn, 11, whom she shares with ex Jeremy Calvert. Corey, in addition to the twins, has a 9-year-old daughter, Remi, with his wife Miranda.
Co-Parenting Challenges: Teaching Aliannah About Her Condition
In a recent episode, Corey and Leah teamed up to address an important conversation with Aliannah, who has muscular dystrophy, about the importance of using her wheelchair.
“We’ve always taught her to use her voice,” Corey explains. “But now, we might be facing a challenge because she’ll say, ‘Well, y’all told me to use my voice, and now y’all aren’t listening.’”
Leah agrees, acknowledging her daughter’s independent spirit. “She hasn’t fully accepted that she has muscular dystrophy yet, so when I tell her, ‘You need to be prepared, you won’t always have people to help,’ she just says, ‘Well, I won’t ask for anything then.’ She’s very strong-willed, and I love that about her.”
