Late-night host Seth Meyers finds himself in the crosshairs after Trump’s 2 a.m. truth-social rant slamming NBC’s extension of his contract — a move already made over a year ago.
In the early hours of Wednesday morning, President Donald Trump unleashed a scathing post on Truth Social, targeting NBC news once again. His target this time? Late-night comedian Seth Meyers. With his trademark hyperbole, Trump derided Meyers as “one of the least talented” hosts, critiquing everything from his skill to his ratings — all while questioning why NBC would renew his contract through 2028.
Yet there’s a twist: that extension was officially announced back in May 2024. Although the timing of Trump’s outburst raised eyebrows, it’s clear the contract wasn’t a fresh development.
Trump wrote:
“There is a sick rumor going around that Fake News NBC extended the contract of one of the least talented Late Night television hosts out there, Seth Meyers… He has no Ratings, Talent, or Intelligence, and the Personality of an insecure child… So, why would Fake News NBC extend this dope’s contract? I don’t know, but I’ll definitely be finding out!!!”
This comes amid Trump’s ongoing war on late-night TV, which ramped up after he gloated over the cancellation of Stephen Colbert’s The Late Show. Previously, Trump predicted that fellow hosts Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon would follow suit — though both have since secured contract extensions into 2028.
Seth Meyers, known for his sharp political satire and frequent criticism of Trump, has yet to respond publicly. NBC has also remained tight-lipped.
The feud stands as another example in Trump’s escalating clashes with the entertainment world — particularly late-night television, where satire and politics frequently collide.
